Navy nabs 13 fishermen engaged in illegal fishing
June 03, 2020Sri Lanka Navy nabbed 13 fishermen engaged in illegal fishing in the seas off Walaithottam and Kumburuppidi areas in Trincomalee during last couple of days (June 1 and 2).
Those fisherman were arrested with their dingy boats and banned fishing nets in continuous search operations carried out by the Eastern Naval Command during last two days.
Further, 1.5 kilos of sea cucumber in possession of the Kumburuppiddi fishermen were also taken into custody.
Assistant Directorate Fisheries, Trincomalee and Fisheries Inspector, Kuchchaveli are conducting further investigations.
