Baby born to a coronavirus positive mother tested negative
August 02, 2020A baby, who was born to a coronavirus infected mother has tested negative today (2), Director Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa Dr. Priyantha Karunarathne, said.
Dr. Karunarathne confirmed defence.lk both baby and mother are healthy and safe after the delivery, and the feeding arrangements were also made accordingly.
Virus contracted pregnant mother, who arrived from Dubai, had been directed to the Kandakadu Rehabilitation Centre for the 14-day quarantine process but later she was transferred to the Colombo East Base Hospital, Mulleriyawa for the delivery and further treatments.
Dr. Karunarathne said it was the first time that a coronavirus-positive mother delivered a baby in Sri Lanka.
