Troops offer skeletal emergency support for hospitals
February 25, 2021A group of about 185 troops of the 14 Division HQ in Colombo offered their assistance to all hospitals in Colombo, Kurunegala and Puttalam Districts for management of skeletal health services after sections of the minor staff went on strike on trade union issues on Wednesday (24).
Troops on the direction of General Shavendra Silva, Chief of Defence Staff, Commander of the Army and Head of the National Operations Centre for Prevention of COVID 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) on the guidelines given by respective Commanding Officers, Brigade Commanders and the General Officer Commanding, 14 Division of the Security Force HQ-West covered the duties of hospital minor staff in the Colombo National Hospital, Colombo Eye Hospital, District Hospitals in Kalutara, District Hospital Avissawella, District Hospital Homagama, Base Hospital Puttalam, District Hospital Marawila, Base Hospital Chilaw, Base Hospital Kurunegala, District Hospital Polpithigama, District Hospital Galgamuwa, District Hospital Dambadeniya, District Hospital Nikaweratiya and District Hospital Thalangama.
