Army to curb antisocial elements

The Chief of Defence Staff and The Commander of the Army, Gen. Shavendra Silva, on the directions of HE the President directed the island-wide troops to help curb antisocial activities of the country, in view of creating a just society.

Antisocial elements, drug dealers, smugglers, illegal tree-fellers, environmental damages, criminals will thus be brought before the book and help eradicate illegal activities from the country.

Accordingly, Army troops took a stock of sand mining equipment with the support of the police during operations conducted separately at Jayanthiyaya, Ambalaperumalkulam and Wasanthipuram  on Mar 04.

Tractors and several equipment used for illegal sand mining have been taken into custody by 6 Gajaba Regiment Troops under the Security Force (SF)HQ – East, 11 GR troops under the SF HQ-Kilinochchi and 14 Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment troops under SF HQ – Mullaittivu.

All those illegal equipment were handed over to the respective Police.
