SLN foils illegal migration attempt
April 08, 2021The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) apprehended 20 persons and foiled an illegal migration attempt during a special operation conducted in Kondachchikuda, Silawathura on 06 Apr.
The Northwestern Naval Command, after spotting four suspicious three-wheelers, nabbed the suspects at the Kondachchikuda roadblock in the Silawathura area, the SLN said.
The suspects had been on their way to the Silawathura sea area to migrate illegally to a foreign country by sea, the SLN also said.
They were residents of Jaffna, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Valaichchenai, Wattala and Puttalam and they included fourteen males, four females, one boy and one girl.
The suspects and the three-wheelers were handed over to the Silawathura Police for onward legal action.
