A glimpse of freedom- true meaning of victory 

Peace means much to people who suffered for nearly three decades as victims of war. Some were born with the war; some lived with the war, while some left the country. Some even got buried with the war.

This is the story of life of the people who survived throughout the prolonged war in the Eastern part of the country.

The defence.lk team recently visited to the areas along the Eastern coast and witnessed the true meaning of victory over terror.

Freedom has brought them all they needed, many commented. No horror, no terror and no fear; people are free and the economy is booming as the immense development process of basic infrastructure development gets under way at great speed.

People now realize the difference between regimes - one of terror and the other of democracy. One said, "We are now very happy here, our president has brought peace and freedom to everyone. Now we have no fear of the LTTE and no threats to our children either. We thank all our war heroes for bringing peace and happiness in to our lives again."
