Simultaneous Air Strikes destroy LTTE bases - North and East

Sri Lanka Air Force fighters carried out a massive air strike targeting the LTTE bases in North of Mannar, North of Puliyankulam and South of Thoppigala yesterday(26) and this afternoon, Tuesday the 27th of March.

The Air Force sources said that these simultaneous air attacks targeting three LTTE bases were launched with SLAF super sonic MIG and Kfir fighters according to on-time information received through intelligence sources.

An LTTE intelligence wing's base at Kanagarayankulam, North of Puliyankulam, in Vavuniya was pounded by SLAF fighters this afternoon, sources said.

A sea tiger base and an LTTE camp at Sudolaipidai in north of Mannar were also destroyed due to the air strikes launched this afternoon. The heavy calibre guns located in these camps were believed to be destroyed, sources said. The LTTE terrorists launched an attack with heavy guns few days ago from this area, defence sources said.

The third target of this successful simultaneous air strikes launched this afternoon was the LTTE base at south of Thoppigala. Air Forces sources confirmed that the LTTE's heavy calibre guns located in this area were completely destroyed.

Meanwhile, hours after the LTTE's air attack, MIG and Kfir fighters pounded pre identified LTTE bases in Mannar and Mullaitivu yesterday, Monday the 26th of March.

An LTTE sea tiger base at Wellankulam in North of Mannar was destroyed at 11 a.m whilst another LTTE base at Thibilikulam in Mulaithivu district was destroyed at 5  p.m during the air strike.

Rejecting pro-LTTE website reports that 40 percent of the Air Fore fleet was damaged in the LTTE's air attack, Air Force sources said that their entire aircraft fleet is fully operational and SLAF is conducting bombardment as usual whenever any threat for the national security arises.
