India- Sri Lanka joint military training exercise 'Mitra Shakthi'

The 4th India -Sri Lanka joint military training
exercise came to a formal end during a ceremony held at the Sri Lanka
Sinha Regiment (SLSR), Headquarters in Ambepussa. The 14 day Exercise
began on 28th last month (October) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR),
Headquarters in Ambepussa.
An Indian contingent of 45 Army personnel, including 6
officers took part in the two-week long Exercise, while the Sri Lanka
Army contingent was comprised of similar number of troops from the Sri
Lanka Light Infantry (SLLI), states army media sources. The Exercise is
designed to enhance understanding of transnational terrorism,
inter-operability skills, conduct of joint tactical operations, sharing
of each other's experiences.
The head of the Indian delegation, Brigadier Sujeeth
Shivaji Patil was the chief guest of the closing ceremony.
The Exercise was conducted under the close supervision
of Commander of the Army, Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva and
coordinated and supervised of Major General Chagi Gallage, Director
The annual training programme has previously been held
twice in India and once in Sri Lanka at the Commando Regiment Training
School in Kuda Oya.
