'Mithra Shakthi' progressing successfully

The 4th India- Sri Lanka Joint Military Exercise 'Mithra Shakthi' has successfully entered its third day today (27th October) at the Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) Headquarters in Ambepussa. The Exercise began on Monday (24th October) with the participation of 45 Indian army troops and 45 Sri Lankan infantrymen.

'Mithra Shakthi' is designed to enhance understanding of transnational terrorism, inter-operability skills, conduct of joint tactical operations, sharing of each other's experiences, etc, According to army media sources, participants will receive extensive knowledge on 'Detection and Disposal of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs)', 'Chemical Weapons', 'VIP Protection', 'Battle Obstacles', 'Biological Hazard Detection, Monitoring and Reconnaissance' during the course of the next two days.

The Exercise is conducted under the close supervision of the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva and coordinated by Major General Chagie Gallage, Director General Infantry of the Army. Brigadier Sujeeth Shivaji Patil of the Indian Army is among the observers of the Exercise.

The Exercise has previously been conducted twice in India and once in Sri Lanka. 'Mithra Shakthi' will formally conclude on November 06th after the final exercise on the 04th (November).
