Army continues with relief work

Continuing with ongoing relief work, Sri Lanka Army has deployed a total of 1600 Army personnel, belonging to the Security Force Headquarters - West (SFHQ-West) for rescue and relief operations in flood and landslide affected areas with 15 BTRs and WMZs troop carriers, 30 Army boats and other machinery by Saturday (27th May 2017), states army media.

Up to date (28th Sunday, May 2017), Sri Lanka Navy has deployed over 109 relief, search and rescue teams comprising 643 naval personnel along with 109 relief boats in affected areas in the Southern and Western provinces of the island, states navy media.

Rescue & Flood Relief Operations of the Army, Navy & Air Force are Underway (Media Release)

Thousands of tri-service personnel, including more than 1000 Army personnel are currently continuing with their rescue and relief operations in close coordination with the Disaster Management Centre (DMC), District & Divisional Secretariats, Police and other authorities in flood-affected areas after torrential rains hit several provinces in the island.
