10th KDU International Research Conference in August
The 10th International Research Conference of the
Kotelawala Defence University will be held on 3rd and 4th of August
(2017) at the KDU campus at Ratmalana. This was revealed at a press
briefing held at the MOD Media Centre in Kollupitiya this morning (24th

will be conducted under the theme 'Changing Dynamics in the Global
Environment: Challenges and Opportunities'. It will see 365 research
papers being presented by local and foreign authors during 9 research
sessions; Defence and Strategic Studies, Engineering, Allied Healthe
Science, Basic Environment and Spatial Sciences, Law, Management, Social
Sciences and Humanities, Medicine and Computing. A number of research
papers from local universities will also be presented at the sessions.
The conference is organized in collaboration with the Ministry of
Science, Technology and Research and the National Science Foundation.
The Conference will feature pre-conference workshops,
plenary sessions, poster presentations and technical sessions. The KDU
invites authors to submit abstracts, extended abstracts and full papers
of previously unpublished work. All such work will be subjected to a
double-blind peer review process. The best oral presentation and poster
will be selected for awards.
This dynamic event is aimed to provide an
international forum for researchers and professionals to exchange ideas
and share latest findings across a broad range of disciplines. The
conference seeks to foster networking and collaborations within and
between academia and industry at the national and international levels
and be a catalyst to encourage the innovation and the creativity of
enthusiastic young researchers. This is the only such conference where a
platform is provided for military and civilian participants to present,
share interact and collaborate on thematic issues.
In addition the KDU will award Honorary Professorships
to two world renowned scholars and eminent Sri Lankan intellectuals
namely Prof. Chandra Wickramasinghe and Dr. Bandula Wije during the IRC.
They are also among the line of distinguished guest speakers.
The inaugural session will be graced by the Minister
of Science, Technology and Research Hon. Susil Premajayantha.
Senior KDU officials including the Deputy Vice
Chancellor (Defence and Administration) Brigadier IP Ranasinghe, Deputy
Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. MHJ Ariyaratne and Conference Chair Dr. KMG Prasanna Premadasa were associated with the press briefing.
