LTTE launches a mortar attack at VIP air movement - Batticaloa LTTE terrorists launched a mortar attack targeting VIP air movement carrying Minister of Disaster Management and Human Rights Mahinda Samarasinghe along with few foreign diplomats around 9 this morning. Defense sources said that the mortars were launched as the two helicopters landed at the Webber stadium in the Batticaloa town. Sources further confirmed that Minister suffered no injuries in the attack. According to the available information, an official of the Italian Embassy for Sri Lanka along with another nine people suffered injuries in the attack. The injured were being taken for the immediate medical attention. A helicopter belonging to a private airliner was also slightly damaged. Further information will follow.
