2 innocent civilians killed, 20 injured in LTTE bus bomb - Polgolla
The LTTE terrorists have carried out a cowardly bomb
attack for the second time of the day inside a public transport bus
around 3.50 p.m in Polgolla, Kandy today, June 6.

The bus, bearing number cp HE 7503, was plying from
Matale to Kandy via Wattegama, and the explosion occurred near the
Teachers' Training School in Polgolla, sources said. More than 20
civilians were onboard when the bomb exploded.
Kandy hospital sources said 12 victims suffered
injuries have already been admitted to the hospital following the
explosion. Seven among them are in critical condition now being treated
in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Kandy hospital, hospital sources further
said. Few victims were admitted to the Katugastota hospital too.
The bomb had been planted in the rear of the bus and
it had been triggered by using a remote controller.
Meanwhile, an LTTE terrorist who had planted
the bomb has already been taken into custody when he was trying to
escape the scene, police sources said. A wire role and a bottle of
poison were also found in his possession, police sources further added.
A search operation is now underway in the area.
