Wanni operation continues; 18 terrorists killed, over 30 injured
Security forces personnel engaged in counter terrorist
offensive operation inching further towards LTTE areas inflicting
damages to the enemy. The finalized military report received from the
battlefront said that 18 terrorists were killed while 29 others suffered
injuries in yesterday's (July 07) clashes. 6 more terrorists were
reportedly either killed or wounded, the report further said.
In Jaffna theatre of battle, one soldier has laid his
life for the sake of the motherland while another two suffered injuries
in a confrontation took place in Nagarkovil front. Separately, two
soldiers received injuries exploding anti-personnel mines in Muhamalai
and Eluthumadduwal areas yesterday.
In Vavuniya front incidents reported from Palaimoddai
and Navvi areas. 9 terrorists were killed and 17 suffered injuries when
the troops attack at terror bunker defences in Palamoiddai area.
Separately, 2 more LTTE terrorists were killed when the troops ambushed
an LTTE movement in Navvi area last afternoon, the report said. One T-56
weapon was also uncovered during the subsequent search operation.
Meanwhile, troops in mine-clearing operation conducted in the same area
unearthed 23 AP mines through out the day.
In Mannar front, troops engaged in mine clearing
operation in general area Puthukulam have unearthed 23 AP mines and 2
booby traps, the report said.
In Welioya front, 5 terrorists were killed while
another 7 suffered injuries when the troops attack at enemy defences in
general area north of Janakapura. One soldier also made his supreme
sacrifice while another received injuries due to these clashes.
Meanwhile, 46 AP mines and 7 IED were found by the
troops engaged in mine clearing operation in the same area.
Separately, 2 LTTE cadres were killed while another 5
suffered injuries due to the clashes reported from north of
Kiriibbanwewa area. Another 6 more LTTE cadre are reportedly either
killed or wounded during the confrontations occurred in the same front.
Meanwhile, A soldier suffered injuries exploding an AP mine, the report
said.
During the de-mining operations conducted in general
area Dangeliyadda in Baticaloa, troops have found 30 AP mines yesterday.
In a separate search operation conducted in
Ariyamankerni in Trincomalee found few warlike items yesterday. One LTTE
pouch, 4 T-56 magazines, 38 T-56 ammunition and 9 pen torch batteries
were among the items found. |
