Minor blast on railway track - Sedawatte [Updated]

A suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) has been exploded on the railway track close to the Kelaniya railway bridge (Black Bridge) around 7.45 PM (Sept 11), police sources reveal. The sources confirmed that no one has been injured due to the incident.

According to the sources , the bomb has been placed on the railway track about 100m towards Sedawatte from the railway bridge. The explosion has caused about one foot crack on one of the rail, the source added. Police suspect that LTTE might have a hand in the incident.

Police warn the public to be extra vigilant at all times as the terrorists will target civilians at the slightest opportunity they get. As the security forces are fast taking the LTTE to its end , public cooperation at highest level is highly expected , the police add.
