6 LTTE bodies uncovered, 8 more killed in Wanni fighting

Sri Lankan Army, 58 Division troops while engaged in search and clearing operations in general area Visuamadu at the Mullaittivu battlefront have uncovered 6 LTTE bodies and a few vehicles yesterday (Jan 28), according to Wanni military sources.

The bodies were found in general area Puliyanpokkanai, Northeast of Visuamadu, the sources further said. Meanwhile, 8 more terrorists were reported killed sniped at Puliyanpokkanai and Visuamadu general areas by Army snipers deployed ahead of the battlefront. 5 terrorists were killed in general area North of Puliyanpokkanai while the others were reported killed in general area Visuamadu, security sources said. Separately, troops while consolidating defences in Visuamadu have found a government dispensary which LTTE terrorists have used extensively to treat its wounded cadres. LTTE terrorists have also used the site as a main harbouring point ground sources said, adding that, a few LTTE bunkers were also constructed surrounding the dispensary.

Troops also seized a few vehicles used by LTTE including a 'tipper' vehicle, one 'canter' and 12 mini-tractors. During further search operations conducted troops have found 4 T-56 assault riffles and 4 I-com sets, military sources said.
