LTTE's largest fuel distribution center captured - Puthukudiyiruppu
Troops of 641 and 642 Brigades serving under Task
Force 4 (TF 4) have confronted with LTTE terrorists with several
occasions yesterday, 18 February, while on offensive towards
Puthukudiyiruppu built-up entrapping terrorists to less than 100 Sq Km,
defence sources said.
Intense fighting between troops and terrorists
reported this area and terrorists suffered heavy damages during the
confrontation, Electronic Warfare sources said intercepting LTTE radio
communication channels.
Meanwhile, troops of 18 Gemunu Watch (18 GW) serving
under 641 Brigade commanded by Lt. Col. Indrajith Bandara located the
largest LTTE fuel distribution center from general area Puthukudiyiruppu
last afternoon.
The fuel distribution point is located close to the
Puthukudiyiruppu town and nearly 600 metres off the Paranthan -
Mullaittivu (A-35) Road. The fuel had been stored in underground tanks
connecting over 13 bowsers buried in three acre land area, the high
security zone encircling with barbwire. Over 300 empty barrels (capacity
of 210 L) were also found from the area.
Separately, troops of 642 Brigade uncovered body of
LTTE terrorist and a mortar cycle following a confrontation occurred in
Puthukudiyiruppu area, the military report received from the battlefront
said. |
