Security forces conduct medical clinic for Jaffna civilians

Continuing with its humanitarian assistance programme facilitating the medical needs of the Jaffna civilians, security forces conducted a full day medical camp at Watarawatta Maha Vidyalaya on 22nd Feb, 2009. A team of medical officers from Colombo along with Army medical officers conducted the clinic which drew over 50 civilians from Watarawatta, Kapparathivu, Periyapokuna and Wathawatta villages.

Jaffna security forces commander, Major General Mendaka Samarasinghe initiated the project with the assistance of the Jaffna Brigade commanders. Commander, 511 Brigade and the Jaffna Civil co-ordination officer provided transport facilities for the sick and in need to attend the medical camp. According to Army media sources, doctors also took steps to refer some of the patients to peripheral hospitals in view of their health conditions.
