Defence Secretary meets relatives of fallen war heroes -

Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapksa along with a
team of senior defence officials yesterday (Mar 16) met with the
families of war heroes who had made their ultimate sacrifices for
the motherland. The meeting took place at the Sri Lanka Army Gajaba
Regiment Camp, Saliyapura, in Anduradhapura last morning.
Defence Secretary Rajapaksa personally looked into
grievances of the family members of the fallen soldiers during a
cordial discussion he had with them. Also, he instructed the
responsible defence officials to take immediate action to redress
those grievances and to solve other problems surfaced during the
discussion.
Speaking at the occasion, the Defence Secretary
said that the names of those war heroes who laid down their lives at
the battlefield would be remembered forever by the nation. He said
that their names would go into the annals of the nation's history as
those heroes who made similar sacrifices for the motherland in the
past.
The officials of the MOD Seva Vanitha Unit who
were also at the occasion interviewed the families and looked into
their welfare problems.
The event was organized by the Ranviru Seva
Authority on special instructions provided by the Defence Secretary
Rajapksa. Following the event, the Defence Secretary visited the
wounded war heroes at the Military Hospital Anuradhapura.

Ioma Rajapksa, Additional Secretary (Public Relation and Development) Willy Gamage,
Additional Secretary (Technical) BKUA Wickramasinghe, acting
Chairman of the Ranaviru Seva Authority and Military Liaisons
Officer of the Defence Ministry Major General W.P.P. Frenendo and
several other officials including armed forces officers participated
for the occasion.
