Over 2000 Tamil civilians reach Government controlled area seeking safety - Pudukkuduirippu

A total of 2108 Tamil civilians who had been trapped by the LTTE terrorists were able to reach government controlled area escaping terror grip yesterday, 26 March, defence sources said.

The group of escapees comprising 571 males, 597 females and 940 children reached troops of 58 Division in general area Pudukuduirippu during day hours yesterday.

The escapees were later directed to the welfare centres established in Kilinochchi after proving them with food, medical treatment and other necessities, defence sources added.
