Undercover LTTE agent gunned down - Jaffna Sri Lankan soldiers gunned down an undercover LTTE cadre at Iyattalai in Jaffna last morning (June 24). According to the defence sources, troops detected the terrorist during a special search conducted in the Kodikamam area. The search operation was launched on civilian information revealing terrorists presence in the area. "As the troops passing IYATTALAI area around 8.00 a.m., troops observed one suspect hiding himself behind a bush and attempting to throw a hand grenade towards them. However, alert troops instantly opened fire at the suspect and killed him on the spot" said the army sources Later , the slain LTTE cadre has been identified as a senior LTTE cadre as Salappan. Troops found one micro pistol, two hand grenades and a mobile phone in the possession of the dead LTTE cadre.
