NYSC conducts Deepawali festivals in welfare villages - Cheddikulam
The National Youth Services Council (NYSC) made
arrangements to celebrate Deepawali festival at all welfare villages
established in Cheddikulam, Vavuniya.
Entertainment programs, sports activities for children
and different cultural shows are among the schedule events which will
take place throughout the day at the welfare villages.
The defence.lk team visiting Vavuniya welfare villages
witnessed one of the series of Deepawali festivals held at Zone IV on 21
October. The entertainment programs and children's sports activities
were commenced in the morning with the participation of hundreds of
children, followed by a colorful cultural show in the evening.
It was notable that youth of Zone- 4 performed verity
of items on the stage showing their talents. The youth service officer
who has been appointed by the district youth service department said
that, all the participants performed at the cultural show had underwent
training for two months.
In parallel, the National Youth Service Council
distributed cultural and sports equipments worth of 100,000 rupees among
the youth and children at the Zone IV.
"We have already completed two Deepawali festivals in
two different welfare villages, this is the third and another two
festivals in the remaining two villages are schedule to be held", an
official from the Vavuniya district youth service department said.
"On the directives given by the National Youth Service
Council we have appointed a youth service officer for each welfare
village to facilitate and coordinate activities among youth and
children", he further said.
