IGP Balasuriya extends public hearing time IGP Mahinda Balasuriya has extended the duration of time for meeting the public every Friday (Public Day) at the Police Headquarters. Police spokesman Senior DIG Nimal Mediwake said considering the extent of the public grievances the IGP has extended the meeting time by a further. One hour on Public Day accordingly, the duration of the meeting which was 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will now be extended to 3 p.m. This is considering the steady increase in the members with complaints and grievances. Meanwhile Senior DIG Gamini Navaratna has been appointed as head of the Police Election Secretariat. He will be based in Colombo. Public can obtain election information from his office.
