President Receives warm welcome in Batticaloa
The
Ghandi Square in the Batticaloa City witnessed the largest ever
gathering as President Mahinda Rajapaksa addressed the Eastern People
last evening (Jan 10).
Following his visit to Jaffan earlier on the day,
President Rajapaksa came to Batticaloa to participate for two more
election rallies organised by Tamil and Muslim political parties
supporting the President. The president received a warm welcome by tens
and thousands of people thronging on the roadsides to greet him.
Chief Minister of the Eastern Province Sivanesathurai
Chandrakanthan presented a memento to the President to mark the
occasion. Minister Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan was also present at the
meeting.
Later, President Rajapaksa addressed a large gathering
of the Muslim community in Kattankudy. Eastern Provincial Council
Minister A.L.M. Hisbulla welcomed the President at the rally.
All regional politicians representing Eastern people
pledged their fullest support to President Rajapaksa in the forthcoming
elections.
