Fifty six rehabilitated youth handed over to parents

Fifty six rehabilitated youngsters had been handed over to their parents. They have been given training in various fields.

According to the authorities they had been trained at the Navasenapura Rehabilitation Centre at Welikanda in the Polonnaruwa district. The Government had taken steps to rehabilitate the young people who surrendered to the Security Forces during the last stage of the war with the LTTE. Several other LTTE cadres were arrested when they were in welfare centres.

These young people were sent to rehabilitation centres in various parts of the country. They had been given education and vocational training in these centres.

According to the instructions of President Mahinda Rajapaksa several hundred rehabilitated youth had been handed over to their parents in stages to lead a new life.
