Security enhanced in Kandy in view of 62nd National Day Celebrations In view of 62nd National day celebrations and "Deyata Kirula" exhibition, security will be enhanced in Kandy throughout the period, said Senior DIG Gamini Navaratne. The DIG said a contingent of 3,000 policemen will be on duty during the National Day celebrations on February 4 while a contingent of 8,000 policemen will be on duty during the Deyata Kirula exhibition period. In addition a contingent from Army, STF and Intelligence services who will be on duty round the clock, he added. He further stated that a special traffic plan will also be in operation in Kandy throughout the period.
