Regular Navy intakes 193 and 194 pass out at SLNS Nipuna
Five Hundred and thirty (530) recruits belonging to
the 193rd and 194th Intakes of the Regular Naval Force passed out in a
colourful Passing Out Parade held under flood lights at SLNS Nipuna in
Boossa on 24th July 2010. Director General (Logistics) of the Sri Lanka
Navy Rear Admiral M Premathilake graced the occasion as the Chief Guest
and took the salute.
Commander Southern Naval Area Commodore PADR Perera,
Senior Officers from the Naval Headquarters and family members of the
sailors passing out attended the event. The 193rd Intake was trained at
SLNS Elara in Karainagar and the 194th Intake was trained at SLNS Tissa
in Trincomalee. At a well-executed drill display, the newly passed-out
sailors exhibited their acquired skills and talents captivating the
spectators who had turned up in large numbers at the venue. Sailors who
showed excellence during training were presented with awards.
In the 193rd Regular Intake, Recruit AMPM Edirisinghe
clinched the award for the Best Recruit. Recruit DVT Lakmal was selected
as the Best Sportsman. Recruit HA Goonethileka won the award for the
highest aggregate score in all subjects. Recruit KHPDAG Abeyrathna was
adjudged the Best Marksman. The Samudura Division won the award for the
Best Division.
In the 194th Regular Intake, Recruit DDK Madhushantha
won both awards for the Best Recruit and the highest aggregate score in
all subjects. Recruit IBWR Dissanayake was selected as the Best
Sportsman. The award for the Best Marksman was won by Recruit DM
Dayananda. The Samudura Division won the award for the Best Division.
