Massive anti-Dengue drive in North

The Northern Province has accelerated the dengue mosquito eradicating campaign in the entire north. Around 98 confirmed dengue cases were reported from the Northern Province in July. Northern Province Governor Major General G.A. Chandrasiri said on the request of the Government, a dengue mosquito eradicating campaign is being considered. "A four day dengue eradicating campaign will be carried out in all five districts in the Northern Province", he added.

He said the campaign will be conducted tomorrow and day after tomorrow as well as on August 2 and 9.

A committee meeting was held with the Government Agent, District Secretariats, G.S and Provincial Council members in the entire Northern Province.

Governor Chandrasiri told the Daily News that the NPC will start cleaning up schools, government institutions, houses, commercial establishments, drainage system etc. People from all sectors will participate during the dengue mosquito eradicating program.

The NPC has taken steps to provide all the needs and resources for this purpose, he added.

He noted that nearly 98 confirmed dengue patients were reported in the entire Northern Province in July. However, no death was reported due to dengue fever.
