9th APPTC Commandants' Conference concludes on a successful note

The 9th Asia-Pacific Peace-keeping Training Centre (APPTC), Commandants' Conference, which began on Tuesday (01st August), concluded on a successful note at the Hotel Taj Samudra in Colombo on Thursday (03rd August). According to Army media, the three day conclave organized by the Institute of Peace Support Operations Training in Sri Lanka (IPSOTSL) of the Army saw participants deliberate on thematic issues under the theme: 'Challenges of Developing a Robust Peacekeeping Mindset'.

During the course of the three-day conference the Annual General Meeting of the Association of Asia-Pacific Peace Operations Training Centres (AAPTC) was also held. International delegates from Australia, Bangladesh, Burma, Cambodia, China, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Japan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Nepal, Philippines, Republic of Korea, Thailand, Vietnam, New Zealand and Sri Lankan representatives actively contributed to the success of the conference.

Representatives of GPOI, BIPSOT, IPSOTSL, United Nations Department of Peace Keeping Operations (UNDPKO), International Organizations such as OMA, ALCOPAZ, APSTA, EAPTC and senior officers of the Sri Lankan armed forces also contributed to the conference.

The conference saw delegates discuss on sub topics including 'Workshop Objectives and Agenda', 'Sri Lanka's IPSOTSL Training Presentations', 'Summary of the Training Related Activities', 'Training Instructor Standards', 'Areas of Cooperation for Peacekeeping Capability Readiness System (PCRS)' 'Annual General Meeting Business', 'Instructors Report to their Respective Commandants on the Outcomes of Topics Discussed', 'Joined Declaration of the meeting', 'Communiqué for the UNDPKO and ITS',

The closing ceremony was graced by the presence of Chief of Staff of the Army Major General Amal Karunasekara.
