Army completes construction of houses in Keppapilavu Model Village
Engineers of the Army serving under the Security
Forces Headquarters in Mullaitivu officially completed the construction
of Two hundred and eighty seven (287) houses in the Keppapilavu model
village with the ceremonial opening of the final 19 houses and a medical
centre on Thursday (25th).
The project was entrusted to the army by the Ministry
of Resettlement, Reconstruction and Hindu Affairs in September, 2012
after releasing funds to that effect through the respective District and
Divisional Secretariats in Mullaittivu District.
The houses are meant for the displaced civilians who
are being temporarily housed at Manik Farm Relief Centre,
Pilakudiyirippu, Suriyapuram, Seniyamottai, Jaffna Allarai and
The project was completed under several stages with
the completion of 50 houses in May 2013, 101 houses in February 2014, 78
houses in October 2014, 39 houses in October 2015 and the remaining 19
houses being completed recently. The construction work was continuously
monitored by the District Secretary for Mullaittivu.
