Army troops donate blood to Jaffna patients

[June 03 2018]

Sri Lanka Army troops in Jaffna yet again rose to the occasion and donated blood to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital, recently. The community welfare initiative was undertaken by the 10 (V) Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment (VIR) troops of the Security Force Headquarters - Jaffna (SFHQ-J).

The blood donation programme was held at the Battalion Headquarters in Maradenkerni on 24th May.

More than one hundred Army personnel had volunteered to donate much needed blood to the patients of the main hospital in the Northern peninsula.

This magnanimous gesture of the troops was highly appreciated by medical professionals and staff of the Teaching Hospital.

Troops regularly volunteer to donate blood to the hospitals in the region to replenish stocks at the blood banks.
