Cambodian delegation visits Muhamalai de-mining site

[November 08 2018]

A 9-member delegation of the Cambodian Mine Action Authority (CMAA) visited the Muhamalai humanitarian de-mining site on Wednesday (07 November). According to Army media, the Cambodian delegation had made the visit with the intention of broadening their knowledge through Sri Lanka's humanitarian de-mining work.

During the visit, the delegation led by the Secretary General, CMAA, Mr. Prum Sophakmonkol was presented with a comprehensive briefing on the operations of the ongoing Army de-mining work in Muhamalai and adjacent areas by Army officials. Later they went onsite to witness Army manual and mechanical de-mining teams stage field demonstrations. They also visited the HALO Trust resettlement site in Muhamalai where other non-governmental de-miners are in operation.

The visiting Cambodian delegation is expected to attend a full-day workshop at the National Mine Action Centre in Colombo during their stay in the island.
