Disabled War Heroes complete vocational training

after successfully completing
vocational training to qualify
for the National Vocational
Qualification (NVQ) standards
received their certificates
during a ceremony at the Defence
Services College auditorium on
Friday (19th January).
The ceremony was graced by the Commander of the Army,
Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake.
Training modules were conducted by the Vocational
Training Authority (VTA) at the Army Ranaviru Resources Centre (RRC) at
Hekitta, Wattala. The modules include domestic appliance repairing,
carpentry (buildings), electrical wiring, plumbing, computer hardware,
computer operator, aluminum fabrication, hair dressing and beauty
culture, three-wheeler and motorbike repairing, landscaping and mobile
phone repairing, etc.
More than 385 disabled War Heroes are under training
to acquire NVQ qualifications at the RRC at present.127 disabled
soldiers are currently following basic level NVQ courses while 261 are
following level 3 and 4 of the NVQ courses.
The RRC has so far provided vocational training to
1176 to disable War Heroes of the Army.
