Educational seminars for Mullaithivu students

[November 08 2017]

The series of educational seminars organized under an initiative of the Sri Lanka Army troops in Mullaithivu was attended by more than 700 students from a number of schools in the region. According to Army media, seminars were conducted over the weekend with a view to assist the students sitting for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level exam in December this year.

Seminars were held at the Vidyananda Vidyalaya in Mulliyaveli on Saturday (04th) and at the Puthukkudiyirippu Madya Maha Vidyalaya on the following day (05th). 375 students from 8 schools attended the seminar held at Vidyananda Vidyalaya while 350 students from 7 schools attended the seminar at Puthukkudiyirippu Madya Maha Vidyalaya. The two seminars helped the students to brush up their knowledge in Science and Mathematics.

This community service initiative was taken by the Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT) in coordination with the 'Sarasavi Mithuro' organization and a group of university lecturers of the Colombo University. Both seminars were sponsored by David Peiris Motor Company and the Mullaittivu Education Office.

Troops regularly organize such programmes in the North and East as a part of their community welfare projects to uplift the educational standards of the children in the region. Such seminars are organized by the troops especially for students sitting for public exams.
