Educational seminars for Mullaithivu students
The series of educational seminars organized under an
initiative of the Sri Lanka Army troops in Mullaithivu was attended by
more than 700 students from a number of schools in the region. According
to Army media, seminars were conducted over the weekend with a view to
assist the students sitting for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level exam in
December this year.
Seminars were held at the Vidyananda Vidyalaya in
Mulliyaveli on Saturday (04th) and at the Puthukkudiyirippu Madya Maha
Vidyalaya on the following day (05th). 375 students from 8 schools
attended the seminar held at Vidyananda Vidyalaya while 350 students
from 7 schools attended the seminar at Puthukkudiyirippu Madya Maha
Vidyalaya. The two seminars helped the students to brush up their
knowledge in Science and Mathematics.
This community service initiative was taken by the
Security Forces Headquarters - Mullaittivu (SF-MLT) in coordination with
the 'Sarasavi Mithuro' organization and a group of university lecturers
of the Colombo University. Both seminars were sponsored by David Peiris
Motor Company and the Mullaittivu Education Office.
Troops regularly organize such programmes in the North
and East as a part of their community welfare projects to uplift the
educational standards of the children in the region. Such seminars are
