KDU Annual International Research Conference to be held in September

The 9th Annual International Research Conference (IRC) of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) will be held on 8th and 9th September at the KDU in Ratmalana. This was revealed at a media briefing held at the Ministry of Defence Media Centre in Colombo today (6th Tuesday, September 2016).

Vice Chancellor of the KDU Rear Admiral JJ Ranasinghe, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence & Academics) Major General JR Kulathunga, IRC Chair Dr. JMKB Jayasekera , Dean - Faculty of Management Social Sciences and Humanities Dr. MM Jayawardana and Director Media Centre Ministry of Defence Brigadier AWMPR Senaviratne addressed media personnel during the occasion.

This year's conference is scheduled to be held under the theme "Professional Integration for a Secure Nation". Minister of Law & Order and Southern Development Hon Sagala Rathnayake is scheduled to deliver the Key note speech.

This year's research session of the conference include Defence and Strategies Studies, Engineering, Built Environment and Spatial Science, Computing, Medicine, Basic and Applied Science, Allied Health Sciences, Law, Management, Social Sciences and Humanities sessions.

KDU IRC -2016 will be enriched by foreign professionals and scientists representing Australia, USA,UK, Canada, Jamaica, Germany, China, Sweden, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives.

Main plenary session on defence and strategies studies will be conducted on the inaugural day which will be followed by the parallel plenary sessions. Nine parallel technical sessions for oral and poster presentations are also scheduled to conduct in view of sharing knowledge and discuss their research findings of the 250 local and foreign presenters. Out of more than 450 research papers 295 were accepted offering 212 orals and 83 posters.

KDU officials and a large number of media personnel were present at the occasion.
