New Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff for Army

 

Major General Milinda Peiris has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff (COS) of the Sri Lanka Army with effect from 12 February 2016. He was the Vice Chancellor of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU).

Over the career span of 35 years since the beginning in 1980s, he has held numerous prestigious appointments in the Army. Accordingly, Major General Peiris will be the 47th Chief of Staff of the Sri Lanka Army.

Major General Peiris has earned his Masters Degree in Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Madras. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Open University of Sri Lanka and a Diploma in Senior Level Defence Management from the University of Indore in India.

He is a recipient of Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP) and Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) for his heroic deeds in war. He has also awarded with the Uttama Seva Padakkama (USP) for his unblemished military service.

 

 

 

Major General AKS Perera has also been appointed as the new Deputy Chief of Staff in the Sri Lanka Army with effective from 16 February 2016. He was the Commander Security Force Headquarters - Central (SFHQ-C) prior to the new appointment.

Major General Perera is a distinguished officer from the Gajaba Regiment who has an illustrious career span of more than 35 years.

He is a recipient of Weera Wickrama Vibhushanya (WWV), Rana Wickrama Padakkama (RWP), Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP) and Uttama Seva Padakkama (USP) for his heroic and unblemished military service.
