More lands released to Jaffna people
A stretch of land in Jaffna has been released by the
Sri Lanka Army on Thursday (30th November). According to Army media, a
29 acre stretch of land, in the J/244 Vasavilan Grama Niladari sector,
including the Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School and Our Lady of Mary
Carmel Church, bordering the Army Cantonment in Palaly was handed back
by the Security Forces Headquarters -Jaffna.
The documents related to the release of land were
officially handed over to the District Secretary of Jaffna, Mr
Nagalingam Vedanayaham by Major General Darshana Hettiarachchi,
Commander, Security Forces - Jaffna (SFHQ-J), during the brief ceremony
held at Ottampalam in Vasuvillan, Jaffna.
The ceremony had been organized jointly by the
Ministry of National Integration and Reconciliation, Ministry of Prison
Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Religious Affairs,
Jaffna District Secretariat and the SFHQ-J.
Politicians, state officials, military officers and
members of the local community attended the land handing over ceremony.
