Navy brings ashore critically ill fisherman

[October 30 2018]

Sri Lanka Navy troops rendered assistance to bring ashore a critically ill fisherman on Sunday (28 October). According to Navy media, a Naval Fast Attack (FAC) Craft attached to the Southern Naval Command was sent to the location upon being alerted by the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

The fisherman was among the crew of a multi-day fishing trawler named 'Ran Putha' which had set sail for fishing from the Ambalangoda fisheries harbour. Subsequently he had suffered severe chest pain. The Naval craft had reached the fishing vessel in the seas about 85 nautical miles off the Galle harbour. Later the patient was rushed to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital upon being brought to the Galle harbour.
