Navy installs ten RO Plants for community use

Sri Lanka Navy had installed ten Reverse Osmosis (RO)
plants under its community welfare project recently.
Under the guidance of the Commander of the Navy,
Navy's Research and Development Unit undertook the project of installing
Reverse Osmosis (RO) plants in areas where the high prevalence of the
Chronic Interstitial Nephritis in Agricultural Communities (CINAC) is
recorded. The financial assistance for the project was provided by the
Presidential Task Force on Prevention of Kidney Diseases.
According to the navy media, 8 RO systems were
installed at Swarnapali Balika Junior School, Swarnapali Balika Maha
Vidyalaya, Velampalla Maha Vidyalaya, Rideemaliyadda, Thalakolaweva,
Beligalla, Sri Dharmodhaya Pirivena in Girandurukotte and Nikawehera in
In order to facilitate naval personnel, Navy also
installed 2 RO Plants at the Navy House in Anuradhapura and at the Naval
Deployment in Oyamaduwa.
Up-to-date Navy had installed 96 RO plants around the
country and facilitated over 45,130 families and 40,350 school children
with safe drinking water.
