President graces DSCSC Graduation Ceremony

Maithripala Sirisena graced the
Graduation Ceremony of Course No
12 of the Defence Services
Command and Staff College (DSCSC)
at Sapugaskanda, Kelaniya on
Wednesday (12 December).
The Course NO 12 of the DSCSC includes officers of the
Sri Lanka Army (68), Sri Lanka Navy (27), Sri Lanka Air Force (27), and
foreign military officers from Bangladesh (3), Nepal (1), Pakistan (1),
Indian (1), Fiji (1), Indonesia (1), Rwanda (1) and the USA (1). These
officers will now be qualified to wear the passed staff college (psc)
badge. The degree is awarded jointly by the DSCSC and the University of
Awards were presented to officers for their
outstanding performances during their course by the President.
Accordingly, the Golden Pen Award for the best research paper was
presented to Major P.V.T.M Perera of the Sri Lanka Army and the Golden
Owl Award for the most outstanding performance was awarded to Major C.D.
Palihawadana (Army Wing), Lieutenant Commander (G) B.A.R.I Ubeysekara
(Navy Wing), and Squadron Leader W.G.B.G Wanasinghe (Air Wing). The
award for the most outstanding foreign student was awarded to Major
Vijendra Prasad Singh of India (Army Wing).
During his visit to the DSCSC, the President also
unveiled a plaque and opened the newly commissioned multi-purpose
four-storied building. The aptly named, 'Adobe of Wisdom' complex is
comprised of a library, two examination halls and a cafeteria for the
use of the undergraduate officers.
Chief of Defence Staff, Tri Forces Commanders, members
of the diplomatic corps, former service commanders, Commandant of the
DSCSC and a number of distinguished guests were also present at the
