Openings to take place in Trincomalee
President to open Trinco water supply project
President Mahinda Rajapaksa will today commission
the Trincomalee integrated water supply project constructed at a
cost of Rs. 4,600 million by the Government, Water Supply and
Drainage Ministry sources said.
Over 330,000 families in the Trincomalee town,
Kantale, Thambalagamuwa, Kinniya and Kuchchaveli Divisional
Secretariat Divisions will benefit by the Trincomalee integrated
water supply project, the sources said.
President Rajapaksa will inspect the development
projects in the Trincomalee district. Tomorrow's Independence Day
celebrations in Trincomalee will be held under the patronage of
President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Water Supply and Drainage Minister Dinesh
Gunawardane, Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa, Eastern Province
Chief Minister Najeeb A. Majeed, Eastern Province Governor Rear
Admiral (Rtd) Mohan Wijewickrama, French Ambassador, Christine
Robichon, Ministers, Deputy Ministers and several other invitees
will be present.
Renovated Dutch Naval Commissioner's bungalow
opens today
The 300-year-old Dutch Naval Commissioner's
official bungalow building in Trincomalee, renovated at a cost of Rs.
75 million will be opened today by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Funds for the project were provided by the Netherlands authorities.
The refurnished building will be converted to an
ocean museum with a biodiversity unit as conceived by Ministry of
National Heritage at a cost of Rs. 45 million this year.
