Prosthetics for Northern civilians

A group of
civilians with physical
disabilities were beneficiaries
of a Sri Lanka Army organized
initiative launched during a
ceremony on Saturday (09).
According to Army media, the
programme had been launched by
the Security Force Headquarters
- Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) in
collaboration with the Centre
for the Handicapped in Kundasale
to provide prosthetic limbs for
deserving people with
disabilities in the region.
Beneficiaries from low income families in the region
were identified with the assistance of state officials before
measurements for the limbs were obtained. Thus 28 civilians were
selected to be presented with artificial limbs under this segment of the
Prosthetic limbs to the value of Rs. 1.2 million were
distributed during the ceremony held at the Harmony Centre in
Kilinochchi during the weekend.
Sri Lanka Army troops in the Northern region had on
many previous occasions have organized such civilian welfare programmes
to provide such incentives to uplift the living standards of the masses.
