Ranajayapura Shopping Complex deeds hands over to
The deeds to the shops of the Shopping
Complex at the Ranajayapura Housing Scheme in Ippalogama
were handed over to selected war heroes at a function
held at the Ministry of Defence and Urban Development
today (20th December). Secretary Defence and Urban
Development Mr Gotabaya Rajapaksa handed over the legal
documents to the new owners.
Ranajayapura is the largest housing
project built for war heroes. There are 1509 individual
housing units complete with all modern amenities. The
project is a brainchild of His Excellency Mahinda
Rajapaksa. The housing scheme is complete with a pre
school, day care centre, secondary school, medical unit,
banking facilities, family care unit, sports ground and
The two storied shopping complex is
comprised of 23 shops and it is provided to deserving
war heroes to provide an additional lively hood support
through self employment ventures. Among the
beneficiaries ten retired service personnel, twelve
in-service personnel and one disable solider received
deeds from the Secretary Defence.
The new shopping complex consists of
ten shops in the first floor and thirteen shops in the
ground floor including one office room. A loan provided
by the Bank of Ceylon had facilitated the constructions.
The project was executed under the directions of the
Additional Secretary (Defence) Mr. S
Hettiarachchi, Additional Secretary (Admin) Mrs. Indu
Rathnayaka. Major General Prasad Samarasinghe, Rear
Admiral NKD Nanayakkara and Senior Security Forces
Officials of Tri Forces were present at the occasion.
