Secretary attends Special Forces Passing Out

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Eng. Karunasena Hettiarachchi was the chief guest at the Passing Out of the 47th batch of the Special Forces Basic Training Course at the Special Forces Training School (SFTS) in Maduraoya Yesterday (19th Saturday, November).

The 229 strong batch includes 09 officers and 220 other rankers.

Secretary Hettiarachchi was received by the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crishanthe De Silva upon his arrival at thye venue. He was also accorded a guard turn out by the troops.

Speaking at the ceremony Secretary Hettiarachchi said that the Special Forces of the Army was in the forefront during the humanitarian operation and highly appreciated the dedication and strength shown by the SF troops in protecting the motherland. He also noted that SF troops who are passing out today have to serve the county in protecting law and peace in the motherland. Secretary also expressed his gratitude to the parents for giving the consent to their beloved sons to join the Special Forces to render a honorable service to the nation.

During the ceremony parachute jumps, martial art, combat riding, urban fighting, physical agility and combat efficiency displays were performed by the SF personnel.

Senior army officers and family members of the SF personnel Passing Out today were also present at the occasion.
