Secretary leads local delegation to UN Peace Keeping Defence Ministerial Conference

Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr. Kapila Waidyaratne PC was in Canada leading the local delegation to the UN Peace Keeping Defence Ministerial Conference 2017 in Vancouver, Canada, recently. The two day Conference commenced on Tuesday (14th November).

More than 550 delegates from 79 countries and five international organizations attended the two day Conference this year.

The second day of the conference included four sessions under 'Smart pledges', 'Innovation in Training and Capacity Building', 'Protecting Those at Risk' and 'Early Warning and Rapid Deployment'.

Representing Sri Lanka, Secretary Waidyaratne made the 'Smart Pledge'.

Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau made the first 'Smart Pledge' of the day.
