Secretary pays homage to the Sacred Relics at Kandy
Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Mr. Kapila
Waidyaratne PC made his first visit since assuming office, to the Dalada
Maligawa (Temple of the Tooth) in Kandy on Saturday (15th July) to pay
homage to the sacred relics. Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit of the
MoD Mrs. Salini Waidyaratne accompanied the Secretary during his visit.
Accordingly the Secretary visited the Sri Vidyasara
Mula Maha Viharaya in Menikhinna in the morning and met the Chief
Prelate of the Ramangngna sect, the Most Venerable Napana Pemasiri Thero
and obtained his blessings. Afterwards he met the Chief Prelate of the
Malwathu sect, Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Sumangala Thero at the
Malwathu Maha Viharaya. After offering his blessing the Maha Nayaka
Thero presented a small Buddha statue to the Secretary as a memento.
Later Secretary Waidyaratne and Mrs. Waidyaratne
arrived at the Dalada Maligawa to pay homage to the sacred relics and
obtain the blessing of the prelates. After wards they visited the
Asgiriya Maha Viharaya and met the Chief Prelate of the Asgiriya sect,
Most Venerable Warakagoda Dhammasiddhi Sri Prakgnananda Gnanarathana
Thero and obtained his blessings.
