Six seized Indian fishing trawlers returned

Six (06) Indian fishing trawlers were handed back to India by the Sri Lanka Navy on Saturday (30th September). The fishing trawlers were held in Sri Lanka after being seized for involving in poaching activities in Sri Lankan waters, states Navy media.

Sri Lanka Navy had carried out necessary repairs to the trawlers before handing over them to Indian Coastguard authorities at the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), north of Kankesanthurei, yesterday.

Navy's ship 'Ranawickrama' escorted the trawlers to the IMBL and handed them over to the Indian Coast Guard Ship, 'Abheek'.
