State Minister Wijewardene lauds Japanese assistance to Sri Lanka's development programmes and maritime security

State Minister undertakes visit to Japan

Japan will continue to support Sri Lanka in its development programmes and strengthen maritime security, says the Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Hon. Kazuyuki Nakane. He said so while speaking at a special discussion with the State Minister of Defence, Hon. Ruwan Wijewardene, who is on a visit to Japan.

While speaking, State Minister Wijewardene congratulated the new Japanese Government that was re-elected at the general election and also expressed gratitude for the longstanding support of Japan towards the economic development of Sri Lanka.

He also appreciated the Japanese assistance towards strengthening of maritime security of Sri Lanka and the support rendered to the Sri Lanka Coast Guard.

At the end of the discussion, State Minister Wijewardene presented the Japanese State Minister Nakane, a memento to mark the occasion.
