State Minister graces SLMA Passing Out Parade

Wijewardene graced the Passing
Out Parade as the Chief Guest of
the Officer Cadets of Regular
Intake 83 and the Volunteer
Intake 57, held at the Sri Lanka
Military Academy (SLMA) in
Diyatalawa today (17th Saturday,
On arrival at venue the State Minister Wijewardene
made a floral tribute at the SLMA war memorial.
Subsequently, he took the salute at the invitation of
the Commander of the Army Lieutenant General Crisanthe De Silva.
Speaking at the occasion, State Minister Wijewardane
commended the services rendered by the Army in the past. He offered his
honor and salutation to the war heroes who sacrificed their lives and
limbs to protect the nation. He reminded the cadets to, always keep in
mind the sacrifices made by the War Heroes in the past and take
inspiration from them when facing future challenges.
Further, he said that, as newly Commissioned Officers
always protect the pride of the army and serve the motherland with your
whole heart. He also applauded the service provided by army during
disasters. He said that, government is always focusing on strengthening
national security under the directions of the President as the Defence
Minister. National security is always important for reconciliation, he
A total of 60 Officer Cadets, 36 Officer Cadet of the
Regular Intake 83 and 24 Officer Cadet of the (Volunteer) Intake 57 got
Commissioned today as they received the ornamental Commissioning Swords
from the State Minister.
State Minister Wijewardene also attended the final
presentation of the pass out cadets, which was held under the theme of
'Recurrence and intensity of natural disasters has a devastating impact
on world peace and security; role of Armoured Forces' on Friday (16th
SLMA Commandant, senior tri forces officers,
distinguished guests and family members of newly commissioned officers
were present at the occasion.
