[August 01 2018]

Sri Lanka Army troops had yet again organized a 'Shramadana' (self-help programme) in Kilinochchi on Thursday (26) under its community welfare initiatives. The programme was conducted at Thevanpiddy Roman Catholic Tamil Mixed School premises in Kilinochchi. Another Sharamada programme was conducted at the Base Hospital in Akkarayankulam.

These community welfare programmes were carried out as a part of its commitment to serve in the nation building and reconciliation process.

Meanwhile troops also rendered assistance to a clean-up programme carried out in Bandarawela. Troops together with local council employees, volunteers and civilians cleaned the town and the surrounding areas of this beautiful holiday destination.

Troops organize and render assistance to conduct such progammes which helps to maintain cleanliness at public spaces and also reduce the spread of dangerous diseases such as dengue. It also helps to increase awareness among the public as well.
